Database migration

Migration from legacy databases to the leading SAP system

More and more companies and organizations are facing the challenge of replacing existing legacy applications, such as Lotus Notes databases, with future-proof and user-friendly technologies. The right document type concepts and data models need to be defined in advance and used to derive the digital processes in the SAP system to which the transferred information from the legacy system can be assigned.

The challenge seems great, but with the right experts at your side and the appropriate migration frameworks, you can avoid productivity losses and protect your investments in the long term.

Replacement of a stand-alone web application with SAP-integrated material and project management with CLC-PADD®

Our customer, a globally active company in the precision mechanics and optics industry, has successfully mapped use cases from existing legacy databases in SAP Folders Management with the support of CLC consultants.

To date, a PHP web application in combination with a Lotus Notes database has been used to map the entire life cycle of design projects and associated components with system support. This entire life cycle includes data acquisition, testing and the entire circulation, from the idea, through design, material master integration, production and the actual sale of the components.

A Group decision resulted in Lotus Notes and therefore the application no longer being used. The processes and documents are to be integrated into SAP, making them more efficient and user-friendly.

In addition to the process now being completely mapped within one system, the customer also benefits from centrally archivable data storage, intelligent search functions and role-based logic for workflow, authorizations and responsibilities. In addition, the user-friendliness for all process participants increases considerably. The replacement of this isolated application also completely eliminates the need for complex interfaces and the maintenance of a stand-alone solution.

Migration of a chemical product specification file to EH&S

CLC's experts supported a leading global specialty chemicals company in replacing its productive Lotus Notes databases. Within these databases, study reports relating to chemical substances are entered, managed and released on a workflow basis.

Within the company, the decision was made to discontinue the Lotus Notes applications. As a result, there was an urgent need to provide a future-oriented application with which the sensitive document-based business processes could be seamlessly continued. Modern, role-based apps were also needed to ensure that user-friendliness had long been optimized. In addition to the connection to the EH&S module, the focus was on authorization control, the automated continuation of study naming and the ability to create, search and display toxicological reports.

With the CLC tools - in the procedure as well as in the tried and tested tools - it is possible to bring all data and information into one view. A view that, in the specific case of the product specification file, shows everything that the user needs based on work flow and to which he has authorization. This means that no additional effort is required for data maintenance. In addition, thanks to the CLC-PADD® S Suite+, a modern, clear and web-based application can be generated based on the SAP Fiori standard. A realization that not only convinces Consilio GmbH - our partner for integration solutions in the process industry.
