Research Institute for Polar and Marine Research integrates SAP Fiori App with HCM & IDM
The new digital guest management system at a scientific institute with a focus on polar and marine research is being used successfully. Following a targeted development phase and close collaboration with the customer, users benefit from a seamless, integrated process - from recording to checking guest data.
The project goes back to a public tender in the previous year, in which we successfully prevailed against several competitors. The decisive factor here was our flexible solution approach with clearly defined components, which could be implemented without complex project structures and with manageable effort for the project team.
Aim of the solution
The aim was to develop a workflow and process-oriented SAP Fiori app for the efficient management and checking of guest master data - with seamless integration into the existing SAP HCM and IDM systems. The solution enables centralized, digital recording and automatic checking of all relevant information. Existing master data is recognized and reused - this minimizes redundancies and simplifies data maintenance. A web-based form is used to control whether a new master record is created in SAP HCM or whether further processing takes place exclusively in IDM - depending on the guest's planned travel activity, for example.
Another core component is the automated provision of relevant information for the approval process. This content is generated dynamically in an SAP Fiori app. All participants - including external guests - are informed about the process steps. The underlying templates can be flexibly adapted as required. The solution therefore makes a significant contribution to higher data quality, greater transparency and a sustainable digital process landscape at the research institute.

Despite the high demands on process reliability, integration and user-friendliness, the project was implemented in a resource-saving manner and with minimal coordination effort for the scientific institute with a focus on polar and marine research. Our predefined functional modules and good cooperation with the project team on site ensured that everything ran smoothly - from conception to acceptance.

Our project team used its expertise and commitment to lay the foundations for a future-proof digital process. Particularly in the final phase, key milestones were secured with a high degree of flexibility and reliability.
